"As goes the consumer, so goes the U.S. economy and stock market. The irony is that we are heading in the wrong direction inflation-wise. However, consumer spending is holding fast," says Jim Lowell. The bond market was more hawkish than the Federal Reserve, and now the Fed is more hawkish. "The Fed is moving on the data that they know rather than geopolitical fears," Lowell adds.
