"Jerome Powell was more hawkish than the stock market expected. The Federal Reserve is trying to curb inflation. Short positions on the S&P 500 or Index are at 2-year highs. There were two quarters of market contraction, which is an indicator for a recession. There are still inflation and negative wage growth worries. Investors can be defensive, but consumer confidence is at an all-time low," says Greg Swenson.
