The Dow Jones closed out Tuesday up 1.2%, the S&P 500 ended 1.4% higher, and the NASDAQ-100 and Russel 2000 ended up. Energy was the leading sector as oil moved back above $80 after falling to an 11-month low on Monday when Saudi Arabia denied reports that OPEC and its allies were considering increasing production. Materials and tech also rallied. Best Buy (BBY) shares closed up 13% on better-than-expected earnings. While the company did see inflation pressure straining consumer spending, electric demand held up and the company stick to its holiday-quarter outlook. It also resumed its share buyback program, but it's sitting on high inventories and that concerns investors. Life-sciences electronics maker Agilent Technologies (A) shares closed 8% higher today seeing its largest percent increase since March 2020 on its better-than-expected earnings.
