The U.S. indices, SPX, $DJI, NXD, and RUT, opened lower but rallied to positive, but closed lower. All 11 S&P sectors also closed lower. Crude oil (/CL) closed at $94 and is trading lower at $93. RBOB gasoline (/RB) is up about 1% on the day, while natural gas (/NG) is down pretty significantly at about 7%. TNX opened at a very low level but closed about 5% higher. Bitcoin remains moderately unchanged. Utilities, communication services, and energy were leaders today, especially stocks NEE, GOOGL, CMCSA, MPC, and HAL. There was weakness in financials, industrials, real estate, specifically in BAC, JPM, UNP, CAT, and SPG. Uber (UBER) missed on earnings but beat revenue and recorded first time positive free cash flow. Marriott (MAR) beat on earnings + revenue and sees next quarter estimates to be in-line. Redbook shows the consumer is still hanging in there, while the JOLTS missed showing job openings a little lower.
