Yield Curve Shape Significance & Long Term Investing In Utilities, Commodities, Emerging Markets

The stock market is under pressure ahead of the June FOMC meeting. "Mind the yield movements as well as curve shape. The latest yield curve and the rare move on Friday is historically telling. The Fed has a more aggressive runway but the navigating the soft landing is not as easy as using a flight simulator; real world behavioral finance, delayed action and the limited sense of efficacy with regard to inflation is far problematic for the near term," says Matt Lloyd. Lloyd then weighs in on finding areas of opportunity in the markets. "Some opportunities are presenting themselves in the credit markets with the 10 year rising 200 bps in less than a year and negative total returns at historic levels in many credit markets. While counterintuitive, we still see long term value in value and high dividend paying industries," he adds.
